Not unexpected that I be up this morning....the Super Bowl Party was a success. I was rooting for The Chiefs & they won 😀 I ate the snacks in moderation...A highlight was thinly sliced salmon on a thin cracker, sauce & capers...Yum! I may have enjoyed more than one. We had meatballs in an Alfredo sauce, wings, cheese, sausage slices, deviled eggs, caper berries (new to me, and I like them!), Buffalo chicken dip, a Cracker with goat cheese & walnuts on top, spinach dip, carrots & celery with dip. etc.
And 2 cakes for dessert...I had a very thin slice of each 😊
I brought 100 calorie cans of Hard Seltzer that I pour over ice & add a splash of sparkling water to drink.

A couple of friends commented on my weight loss & complemented me. One said I was getting "Skinny"....when I said well not exactly skinny she said yes I was. She meant it as a compliment 😊

It's supposed to be up to 73 degrees here today. Planning to go out & rake my front yard in a little bit. Rain is forcast after today for 3 days then colder temps by Friday. Such is Winter in North Georgia.

I was rooting for the Chiefs, too. Fifty years between championships is way too long! My DH bought cookies and chips for game treats. I limited myself to 2 oz. of potato chips. I consider that a victory! I'm in the "Metrolina" region of SC, a burgeoning bedroom community just south of Charlotte, NC. (Proximity to great services but taxes less than half of those in Charlotte, and great schools!) It's not yet 2:00 p.m. and already 72 degrees and gorgeously sunny. My husband and I both hail from NYS snowbelt regions near Lake Erie (me) and Lake Ontario (him). I didn't "hate" NYS winters but never appreciated how much easier winter can be till I moved to the Carolinas in 2000. "Wintertime, and the livin' is easy" ... in the South!

Mira, I was born a southern girl, but lived all over since my Dad was career military. We lived in Europe, Massachusetts and Kentucky among other places. I lived 9 years in Indiana with my first husband before returning south. We do get the changing seasons here but not the extremes as further north might. We do get cold but our snows are usually short lived. I live in a more rural area about an hour north of Atlanta. Hubby & I moved here in 1996 after his work took us to Dallas, Texas for 3 years. He grew up in Toronto, so appreciates our Georgia weather.

Hubby did a project in Charlotte in 1996 so he spent a lot of time there. I visited on occasion, too. We enjoyed spending time there.

Charlotte is a beautiful city. I was very impressed at my first visit in 1998. The last time the metropolitan area had measurable snow was ... April 2, 2019! My husband and I, like most Northerners, enjoy the drama that a snowflake forecast can generate. I remember my first experience of it, 11/19/2000. (Picture: "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!") On Tuesday, they forecast snow for Saturday. I went to a supermarket on the previous Wednesday to find that even the STARFRUIT were gone! I asked a produce clerk, "What's going on? No delivery?" He replied, "There's a snowstorm coming!!" (We got about a quarter inch Saturday night that was melted by Sunday morning.)

Same thing happens around here if snow is predicted. 😊 We do have to be sure we have bottled water & plenty of firewood. With snow often comes ice and our brittle pinetrees don't hold up very well. That causes power outages that can last up to a week. We are on a well so our well pump wouldn't work...so no water. Our property is situated where we wait for the snow/ ice to melt to get out of our driveway safely.
